Background:

In 2010, a private equity fund was launched to target the emerging and fast-growing consumer market in Vietnam. The fund manager’s strategy was to invest in traditional consumer businesses in Vietnam, aiming not only to provide financial support but also to catalyze commercial synergies with new businesses and forge partnerships with strategic partners—who, at that time, were the majority of the fund’s limited partners (LPs).

Support Overview:

The DI team in Vietnam was commissioned to provide services throughout the entire lifecycle of the fund, including sourcing, evaluating, due diligence, value enhancement management, and exit operations.

Impact:

Our consultants successfully assisted the fund manager with complex exit operations during COVID-19. Beyond providing financial investment in local companies, our consultants developed new business strategies during the PMI period to help transform the business models of portfolio companies.

For example, we successfully converted the business model of a medical equipment distribution company from a distribution-oriented approach to a finance-leasing model. This change enabled more effective penetration into the local network of public hospitals, which are traditionally known for their bureaucratic bidding systems.
